Job Description
Caterpillar’s Building Construction Products Division Engine Systems Team is seeking a Cooling System Engineer responsible for the cooling system designs on multiple machine platforms including Back Hoe Loaders (BHL), Compact Wheel Loaders (CWL), and Telehandler (TH) products. The role involves defining cooling system requirements, utilizing analytical tools for optimum system design, collaborating with suppliers, and overseeing all cooling system validation activities.
Key Responsibilities
– Establish cooling system requirements with inputs from various machine systems (engine, interior/exterior machine sound, hydraulic systems, HVAC systems).
– Develop cooling system installations including fan selection and shroud design.
– Collaborate with component suppliers and internal purchasing to find optimized solutions.
– Conduct cooling system validation activities (test planning, data analysis, ensuring system meets requirements).
– Resolve issues during development or on customer machines with robust, validated solutions.
Basic Qualifications
– Analytical Thinking: Ability to use tools and techniques to analyze data and determine the root cause of complex technical problems.
– Computer-Aided Design & Engineering : Proficiency in specialized graphics programs for producing, analyzing, simulating, and testing product design drafts.
– Product Design and Development : Knowledge of construction products and ability to design and develop new products from concept to production.
– Project Management : Ability to handle complex assignments, prioritize workload, manage multiple projects, and collaborate with international teams.
Preferred Qualifications
– Experience in leading cooling system design from concept to production.
– Strong knowledge of Back Hoe Loaders, Compact Wheel Loaders, or Telehandlers.
– Knowledge of engines and engine installation design.
Additional Information
– Hours : 37.5 per week
