Job Type: Permanent, Full time
Shift and Schedule: 8 hour shifts, includes overtime and day shifts
36 hours per week (Annualised hours)

Key Responsibilities:
- Staff the 24 hour Information Centre, assisting staff, students, and the public.
- Monitor the 24 hour Control Room, CCTV, fire alarm panels, and intercoms.
- Handle incoming calls to the University out of office hours.
- Develop knowledge of campus services to advise staff, students, and visitors.
- Liaise with departments to support students and staff.
- Respond to enquiries and complaints in accommodation, such as noise and antisocial behaviour.
- Program fobs, key cards, and reprogram doors.
- Conduct basic electrical investigations.
- Safeguard University property and ensure the safety of users and visitors.
- Provide cash escort services.
- Patrol the campus, lock/unlock buildings, and check alarms.
- Use approved procedures in conflict situations.
- Assist outsourced security contractors with accommodation areas.
- Support Traffic Officers during large events.
- Provide first aid services, including Mental Health First Aid (training provided).
- Respond to emergency situations and liaise with emergency services.
- Enforce University regulations for staff and students.
- Collaborate with internal car parking Traffic Officers.
- Act as a relief chauffeur for senior University members.
- Deliver high customer service and follow standard operating procedures.
- Write clear reports of incidents.
- Perform other duties as required by the Deputy Director of Estates and Campus Services.
Requirements:
- Teamwork and initiative
- Confidence in dealing with conflict and emergencies
- Ability to physically intervene in conflicts
- Attention to detail and negotiation skills
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Full, clean UKvalid driving licence
- Eligibility to work in the UK (the University cannot issue Tier 2 Certificates of Sponsorship for this post)
- Willingness to work unsocial hours and participate in shift work covering 365 days a year
- Ability to pass a DBS check
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the role
- Experience in a customer focused environment (essential)
- Good written and verbal communication skills (essential)
- Experience with young people or understanding of student issues (desirable)
- Experience working with diverse and multicultural backgrounds (desirable)
- Driving Licence (required)
- Work authorization in the UK (required)
Qualifications:
- First aid qualification or willingness to train (essential)
- Conflict management and physical intervention training or willingness to train (essential)
- Mental Health first aid training or willingness to train (essential)
